You must be at least 15 1/2 years of age to obtain your permit. In order to take the permit test, you must be enrolled (paid for, and scheduled, at least one lesson) with a licensed driving school, and must have completed Driver Education. You will need your Driver Ed "Certificate of Completion", along with a "Certificate of Enrollment" from the driving school (called an OL392). Once you pass the permit test, we can commence driving with you.

Please be advised to read page 2 of your permit, which tells you that it is NOT VALID for driving, even with your parents, until you have taken your first lesson.

Driver Training is required, by California state law, to be a minimum of 6 hours, for those under the age of 18. Our DMV-licensed instructors will take you out three times, for 2 hours each, and follow a proscribed agenda to help you learn in an orderly fashion. The law also forbids more than 2 hours of formal training in any one day.

We also offer additional hours, for those families that find it difficult, or uncomfortable, to provide the additional 50 hours of training required by law. These hours are available on a sliding fee schedule.

We do NOT "piggy-back" students (where another student rides along). All training is done one-on-one, with no person permitted in the vehicle except the student and the instructor (Yes, this includes parents!)

California law prohibits more than 2 hours of continual training, and no more that 7 hours in any given day. We will NOT rush the 6 hours by scheduling all 6 hours within just a week or so. Reqests to do so will be denied, and you will be asked to seek another school for your training

Our instructors will give you a check list of tasks completed during each lesson. This checklist will show you, and your parents, where you need more practice, and how well you are doing

You MUST have your permit with you at all times. We cannot take you driving with a photocopy or faxed copy of it. If you are not prepared, or if you are a "no-show" for your appointment, your lesson will be forfeited, and you will need to pay for, and schedule, another one
